NRL TIPS – Round 6

Again in some small profits last week, so we are almost in the + for the season after a sluggish start. Things start becoming clearer from now though….well they should!

Brisbane Broncos vs Sydney Roosters

Match of the round for sure. The Broncos keep delivering, and until last week the Chooks were on fire. But what happened?….who knows to be honest, they just didn’t turn up. One thing is for sure, they wouldn’t want to do that against Bennett’s Broncos at Suncorp or they won’t find a way back. I suspect this one will be close like last Friday, but the scoring could go either way. I will have a play with this like last week.

TIP: Broncos 1-12 -2.5 ($3.40)| STAKE: 1.5 units

TIP: Roosters 1-12 ($3.10)| STAKE: 2 units

Cronulla Sharks vs Newcastle Knights

This is the kind of game you can’t base on ladder position or even past form. You must look deeper. On paper this is top vs bottom, but that’s not how we see it. The Sharks are much better than their position suggests, and last week they showed a big insight against the Roosters. The Knights on the other hand are also a good side, but by no means top of the rung. Put short, both teams are on level playing fields and the real factors tonight will be home ground advantage and confidence…both of which the Sharks have. Oh yeah, and the loss of Beau Scott from the Knights is likely to open up a big void. Sharks should win this.

TIP: Sharks to WIN ($1.75)| STAKE: 2 units

Parramatta Eels vs Gold Coast Titans

This game surprisingly intrigues me. The Eels gave the Rabbitohs a lesson two weeks ago and then went home in the last 20 minutes against the Tigers. Their form is about as reliable as a chocolate teapot. Then there is the Titans, who too be honest are pretty ordinary but are showing some great glimpses. Considering either teams attacking flair of late (or lack of it), 42 points seems a little extreme. As for the result, I would say the Eels at home….JUST.

TIP: Eels 1-12 ($3.30)| STAKE: 1.5 units

TIP: Match total UNDER 42.5 ($1.90) | STAKE: 2 units

New Zealand Warriors vs West Tigers

Both teams are capable of scoring here, and typically in NZ this is the case. Add in the back up from brutal Monday games and the last 30 mins should see plenty of gaps. Take the over on a sunny NZ day.

TIP: Match total OVER 41.5 ($1.91)| STAKE: 2 units

Penrith Panthers vs Manly Sea Eagles

Both teams are hit with injuries here, but the Sea Eagles look much worse off. Based on last week’s effort, it looks like they may just be hitting that wall we predicted a few weeks back. Based on that, and the home turf advantage the Panthers should get the job done here comfortably with the help of the Sea Eagles holy defence.

TIP: Panthers -7.5 ($1.85) | STAKE: 2 units

TIP: Panthers OVER 3.5 tries ($1.57) | STAKE: 2 units

Canberra Raiders vs Melbourne Storm

Bill the kid is doubtful this weekend, but I don’t think it matters. The Raiders are at home yes, but in recent times its advantage has lessened somewhat. The Storm are better all over the park and should take the 2 points home with them. The current line seems a little low.

TIP: Storm -2 ‘handicap 3-way’ ($1.83) | STAKE: 2 units

St George Dragons vs Canterbury Bulldogs

The Dragons defence delivered last week as expected, and they will produce minimal holes for the Bulldogs to get through. They are a smoky this year don’t worry about that. The Doggies have been belted this week by suspension and injuries, and will put up a fight but probably be waiting for the following week. I will take the Dragons (and dare I say the bet of the week), as well as the under again.

TIP: Dragons to win ($1.80) | STAKE: 3 units

TIP: Match total UNDER 36.5 | STAKE: 2 units
